Game Recap
The Bonnies win a big game here at the Reilly Center 58-54 over the University at Albany. In Will Brown's first appearance in Olean since calling the head coaching job, "career suicide" in a radio interview, he was greeted rudely by the WolfPack student section. The game proved to be an exciting one as the Bonnies commanded the game for most of the first half. However, the first thirteen minutes of the second half were dreadful for the Bonnies as the Great Danes went on a 22-4 run before a Tyler Relph 3 brought the run to an end. From there, the Bonnies went on a 17-3 run to end the game and thus the win was theirs. The Great Danes scored one basket in the last 6 minutes and 58 seconds. Relph scored all eight of his points in the 17-3 run to end the game and Fereti scored seven of 12 points in the same run. Michael Lee had the only other basket during the run and it was his 17 footer that put the Bonnies ahead for good. For the game, Lee had 20 points and eight rebounds, but 17 of the 20 came in the first half. Besides Relph, the player of the game for the Bonnies would have to be forward D'Lancy Carter who grabbed 15 rebounds in 36 minutes of play. Carter also scored eight points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field. So, the Bonnies go to 5-5 and Mark Schmidt has to be happy with how his seniors, especially Relph who did not practice for the past week, stepped up in the final seven minutes of the game to get a much needed victory. The Bonnies will next travel to Hampton on Dec. 15 for a 7 p.m. matchup.
Bonnies lead 53-51 with 1:56 remaining!
Michael Lee hits a jumper to put the Bonnies on top and Albany seems to be unable to hit a shot. Bonnies are on a 12-0 run.
Bonnies: 51 Great Danes: 51 3:03 Remaining
Tyler Relph hits a huge 3 to end a dreadful 20-4 run and then after a defensive stop, Zarryon Fereti nails a 3 to bring the Bonnies within four with 4:24 left. The fans are back in the game and Albany may be on the heels for this one. Fereti hits a two and Relph hits a floater to tie this game at 51 a piece. The atmosphere is electric and the Bonnies are back in the game.
Bonnies: 41 Great Danes: 49 7:47 Remaining
Michael Lee and the Bonnies offense has been terrible in this second half. They have scored six points only and given up 20. Mark Schmidt needs to do some serious coaching during this media timeout if the Bonnies are to win this game. It is imperative for the Bonnies to score on this possession out of the timeout.
Bonnies: 41 Great Danes: 47 11:54 Remaining
Albany is currently on an 18-4 run in the opening eight minutes of the second half to take a 47-41 lead. As posted previously, this has been the theme for the Bonnies and something that needs to be addressed before A-10 play begins or Atlantic City will only be a fantasy for the Bonnies. Michael Lee looks as if he wants to take over this game again after being shutdown for the first eight minutes. Fereti has done nothing to give anyone hope and this could be a disappointing night for the Bonnies faithful if Lee and Fereti especially do not step up. The game is tough enough for the young and inexperienced Bonnies to have to worry about an ineffective Fereti.
Bonnies: 37 Great Danes: 38 14:22 Remaining
Albany comes out of the media timeout with a 9-0 run in one minute and 34 seconds. D'Lancy Carter had two blocks on the same possession but it was for naught as the Great Danes scored a basket anyway. The theme for the season continues for the Bonnies: Keep the game close in the first half and then play poorly in the first seven or eight minutes of the second half.
Bonnies: 37 Great Danes: 32 15:41 Remaining
The first media timeout has come at the 15:41 mark and the offense for both teams has been non-existent. The most excitement so far in this half has been the Bona Wolf dancing to Soulja Boy. Albany guard Jon Iati needs to be covered or he will kill the Bonnies with the 3. He hit two in the first half and already has hit another.
D'Lancy Carter's night
Forward D'Lancy Carter played 17 minutes in the first half and had six points and eight rebounds. He had four offensive rebounds and kept the ball alive on many occassions. He has played well and also has a block to go along with his already stellar numbers.
Bonnies: 35 Great Danes: 29 HALFTIME!
The Bonnies have been playing good basketball all night with the exception of a brief Albany lead after two consecutive 3's. The Bonnies responded with a 13-7 run to end the half to give them the lead at half. Zarryon Fereti has not showed up in the first half with only five points. Tyler Benson has missed both of his 3's and has not looked very good. Michael Lee has 17 points in the first half and has been an absolute beast all night. If Fereti can open things up, the Bonnies may win this game by double-digits. Eleby has a couple of silly turnovers but he is not doing anything that could lose the game and with Relph still unable to see significant minutes with his foot inury, Eleby needs to stay out there and avoid crucial mistakes. The second half should prove to be interesting as long as Fereti struggles.
Bonnies: 22 Great Danes: 22 8:24 Remaining
Great Dane guard Jon Iati has hit two threes which gave Albany a brief lead. However, D'Lancy Carter has been strong down low and tied the game at 22 on two free throws before the media timeout. Zarryon Fereti has been quiet tonight and the defense has kept him in check and Michael Lee has played exceptionally well. The Great Dane offense has played well, however, and the Bonnies need to come alive defensively if they want to stay in this game.
Bonnies: 15 Great Danes: 12 11:02 Remaining
Albany is looking more nervous as the game goes on and the fans get louder and louder. They have committed a couple of silly fouls and turned the ball over with three traveling calls and a couple of sloppy passes. Also, for the first time I have seen this season, the offense is looking good. The players are hitting tough shots as well as the ones with a defender in their face. Tyler Benson missed his only 3 point attempt and his struggles continue. Michael Lee leads the Bonnies with six points.
Bonnies: 6 Great Danes: 6 15:59 Remaining
The game has started with a fast pace as the teams scored on their first two possessions each and have been attacking the hoop for the first four minutes of the game. The fans have not stopped in their attack on Will Brown, although they have been paying more attention to the game than Brown. The game might turn out to be a high scoring affair.
The Will Brown drama has begun!
Albany head coach Will Brown walked out onto the court and received a harsh greeting. The fans began chanting vulgarities and there is a cop presence all around the student section.

Game Recap
The Bonnies did what they had to do tonight by handling an inferior team with ease. Although, the Golden Griffins did keep it close the first half, the Bonnies took off four minutes into the second half with a 27-9 run to propel them to a victory over the Griffins. The Bonnies improve their record to 4-4 and are sitting in a pretty good position eight games into the season. Michael Lee led all Bonnies with 25 points in a season low 26 minutes. D'Lancy Carter responded to not starting for the first time all season with a double double. Carter scored 11 points and recorded 12 rebounds. He also had four blocks. Freshman Malcom Eleby responded in a big way after having such a poor start to the season. Eleby had 11 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. However, the stat people should be most happy with is Eleby having only one turnover 24 minutes of play. Zarryon Fereti continued his stellar season with 15 poiints on 5-of-17 shooting. and Tyler Benson had a terrific second half as he filled out his box score with six points, six rebounds and five assists. Schmidt has to be happy with the effort he saw from his team and especially happy that his team only turned the ball over 10 times while having 19 assists. That is almost a 2:1 ratio, something Schmidt asked for after the Niagara game. The Bonnies will next play in Athens, Ohio for a matchup with Ohio University at 7 p.m.
Bonnies: 75 Golden Griffins: 58 3:51 Remaining
The Bonnies have this game if they can continue playing aggressively and not slow down because of a big lead. Canisius has shown they can hit the 3 and if they want to come back, they will need it. Tyler Benson has come alive with five straight points for the Bonnies and has been contributing even without having a good night doing what he does best: shooting the 3.
Bonnies: 65 Golden Griffins: 51 7:57 Remaining
Malcom Eleby has stepped up in a huge way tonight. The latest example of this is when he stopped a break-away and then threw the ball up court to Michael Lee for a dunk and the foul. Since the Bonnies trailed 42-38 at the 16:19 mark of the second half, they have gone on a 27-9 run to hold a commanding 14 point lead. On a side note, The WolfPack are in full force tonight. The noise has been deafening for most of the game.
Bonnies: 51 Golden Griffins: 42 11:56 Remaining
The Bonnies have taken complete control of this game and Michael Lee is proving that his excellent performance this season is no fluke and come up with six points and two huge steals in the opening eight minutes of the half. The 1-3-1 is starting to cause problems for Canisius and the defense has stepped up in a big way.
Bonnies: 43 Golden Griffins: 42
Zarryon Fereti has sparked life into the fans as he nails a 3-pointer with one second left on the shot clock. Then, Canisius guard Frank Turner traveled to give the Bonnies the ball back and send the Reilly Center into a frenzy.
Bonnies: 36 Golden Griffins: 36
The Bonnies have come out in a similar fashion to that of the Niagara game on Wednesday. The second half has started with Canisius scoring seven unanswered points to take a two-point lead and they are fired up. The Bonnies look sloppy and if they want to win this game against a fired up opponent, they need to cut down on the mistakes. It has been rough sailing for the Bonnies to start the half and they need a spark.
Halftime Bonnies: 36 Golden Griffins: 31
The Bonnies have been playing fairly well and have not been turning the ball over. However, they have struggled mightily in the defensive rebounding department. The Grifs have been been all over the offensive boards and that has kept them in this game because it has resulted in open 3s. D'Lancy Carter and Tyler Relph have poured in seven points each to lead the Bonnies in scoring. Eleby has put in six points and has looked pretty sharp after his terrible performance on Wednesday against Niagara. Lee has six points but only played about eight minutes in the first half as he found himself with two fouls at the 13 minute mark and never returned to the floor. The Bonnies should be in good shape for the second half if they can control the Canisius perimeter game as that has been the Griffins strong point along with offensive rebounding. I still believe the Bonnies can win this game by double digits and the second half should be interesting if they come out slow like they did at Niagara.
Bonnies: 27 Golden Griffins: 21 5:55 Remaining
The pace has certainly picked up as the game has gone on. Lee has remained on the bench and I have to say I agree with Schmidt on keeping Lee out for almost seven minutes because the game has not gotten away from them and they will need him in the second half with the sloppiness of this game. Tyler Relph has come out and played very well. I believe he only has one turnover and has seven points. He is also having a nice day trash talking with a Canisius player. Tyler Benson has struggled once again with his 3-point shooting as he has missed all three of his shots from beyond the arc.
Bonnies: 12 Golden Griffins: 8 11:59 Remaining
Michael Lee has two fouls and finds himself sitting next to Schmidt after scoring the first six points for the Bonnies. Malcom Lee entered the game and hit a pull-up jumper from 17 feet that was nothing but net and he held his hand in the air for a brief second.
Bonnies: 6 Golden Griffins: 2 15:52 Remaining
The beginning of the game could not have started any uglier than it has. The Bonnies have not been turning the ball over, they just have not been hitting any shots and the officiating crew has not been very good. Michael Lee has scored all six points for the Bonnies and Matt Morgan has looked solid with no mistakes and big block. Other than that, this has been a weird start to the game. First, the officials called two fouls on two different players on one play. Then, the time keeper messed up the shot clock on two occassions. Finally, the official thought Mark Schmidt was calling a timeout when he was just calling out Tyler Relph's name. It will be interesting to see where the game goes.
Game Time
Canisius comes out sporting some ugly yellow sneakers to go along with their navy blue jerseys. Matt Morgan has earned his first start of the season for the Bonnies and Mark Schmidt made good on his promise to get the freshman more playing time. The teams are ready to tip-off and the game is about to begin.
